Yeah, I know, spring has just sprung and we still have to endure the summer months but I am ready for autumn to hurry up and get here. This bridge is in Williamsville Vermont, actually I believe it is called the Williamsville Bridge. Funny thing is, I forgot where I took this. I shoot on a ridiculously expensive canon 1DX which, for no reason I can explain, does not have geotagging built in. When shooting landscapes I travel very long distances in the early mornings and really did not recall where in Vermont I was. I spent a long time vaguely googling covered bridges in Vt but could not find this particular one. I really just wanted to share the name in this post. Long story short, I suddenly realized I might have snapped a picture with my Iphone to text to my wife. Iphones geotag photos! I launched Lightroom, went to my cellphone folder and and opened the ‘Map” module. This was the very first time I have used it and damn… is it AWESOME! I wish all my photos were geotagged! Anyway that pinpointed my photo on a google map and I found the location and name in seconds! I know I can get a GPS unit for the hot shoe of the 1DX but do I really want to add to the size of this camera? plus worry about it getting banged up in travel? not really. I guess I just have to remember to snap photos with the old phone and do some cross referencing when need be. I hope for tighter integration in my next DSLR.
