Sometimes you just get lucky. Last night I was headed out to shoot the sunset on the Cape, funny thing is mother nature likes to keep things interesting for landscape photographers. I decided to do a little over sand driving to see if I could get a good vantage point on the incoming storm. Well that storm front was a lot more powerful then I suspected. Pouring rain was expected. The hail caught me off guard. But the amount of electricity in this storm was amazing! The sky was just lighting up! Well as fate would have it I ran out of the house with a tripod but not with the camera mount. So it was going to be a night of fast shutter speeds so I could hand hold my camera. Even took off my polarizer so that I could shoot even faster. I slammed my car at a 45 degree angle across the deep sand trail so that I could shoot from the semi-dry interior of my 4×4. I was hoping I would capture the contrast of this monster storm. You could imagine my surprise when I was going through my photos and found that I caught a lighting strike!
