Here is another shot I have from the Los Angeles zoo. As I have said in a previous post, I love going to practice my wild life portraiture at zoos. This one is a great example of how powerful a portrait can be when you capture the eye. Much like a human portrait, as a rule of thumb, you want to make sure you have a sharp focus on the eyes. It is also important to capture the eye with the proper light angle. When the light hits the eye correctly the color of the eye will bloom with color. Having a model with large ostrich eyes help catch that light too.
